I burned myself out in 2018. While seeking answers, on how to be a better dad and husband, I thought - what if my day began at sunset?
Traditionally, the day begins at midnight, while most of us sleep. dawn creeps upon us while we rest and then upon waking, at least 6 hours of the day spend sleeping before we rise to work. After a hard day’s work and school, we come home, flop on the couch, exhausted and “rest from our work.”
To change my ways, I must change my thoughts. In order to change my thoughts, I had to speak a new way.
“We work from our rest.”
If the day began at sunset, we retire at home, with our families, dine and smoke, gaze into the campfire, tell stories and then wander off to bed. The rest of the day, we sleep and dream. Upon rising, we work, create and play until the sunset.
I forever wanted to remember this way of life, so I wrote a prayer about it. Enjoy the following journal prompts through Questions and Direction. By the end of the day - when is that anyway? - you will have done something to restore your flame rather than burning it out.
