Astrology is Evil
I cannot believe I have never seen this before - probably because I was too grounded, too literal and afraid that if I looked up at the stars, demons would enter into my world.
“Astrology is dangerous because it opens the doors to spiritual attack - divination induces the burning of the witches.”
I suppose that is true, but only if you live in a culture that burns witches.
Nowadays, it’s safe - a little too safe, if you ask me. You can read the language of the stars without threat of a public pyre. In fact, it’s trendy, a lot like Dungeons and Dragons became in the last 10 years. Everyone knows their sign - but sadly, familiarly bred poor art and a lackluster beauty, like two lovers grown into contemptuous and obligatory lovemaking.
The stars and I speak this language together. Today, I’ll uncover how I journal every morning while searching through these seasonal patterns until I find a little guidance for the day.
How I Journal using the Daily Stars and Storytelling
I know when and where I was born - that makes a big difference in astrology. So I have a pretty accurate birth chart. I also have some knowledge in how to format a story.
Character Archetype - which part of me takes center stage?
Location - where does the story take place in my life?
Story - what is the arc?
Timeline - how long does this story last?
Quest - what is the dramatic question?
Each star represents an archetype within each of us. The sun represents our ego, the moon our instincts, Jupiter is the part of us that expands in learning, Saturn, the part of us that hunkers down and trains hard.
The location is the little segments that represent our sectors of life. There’s a place for generating wealth, and a play for leisure. There’s a place for equal partnerships and a place for landlords. There’s even a place for dreams.
The story is in the signs - you’ve heard of them, Aries, Gemini, and Cancer. Each of these signs is not a personality, but a story to be told. For example, Leo is the story of the Hero’s Journey - going and seeking for something elusive that may never be found and finding yourself along the way. Aries is the story of throwing off the bonds of slavery and becoming your own master. They are myths we know and love.
Timeline - THIS is my favorite part. You see, the stars move in cycles. The sun moves through the sky for a year (365 days), but the moon moves through the sky for 28 days (a month). The other stars move through the sky all on their own calendar - Jupiter takes 12 years to go through the sky. What this means is that there are stories that take 1 year to be told and some stories take 12 years
Have you ever heard of the best time to plant a tree?
Forty years ago. And the second best time to plant a tree - Today.
Things take time. And astrology teaches us that everything is on a well - run timeline and a cycle. So, if you miss the story one time in your life, don’t worry, the story will cycle through you again eventually.
The final piece is the Question (or Quest). If well written, it begs my soul to search for the answer as I journal.
Direction for You
So, how does this help you?
I think of life in three roles you can play. Most of us play as the Viewer of Life. We sit in the audience of our own story, watch live unfold before us and clap (or cry) at the ending. It’s easy, and less risky, to be a Viewer.
Some of us become the Actor. We take a chance, we risk, we try, and see life from the glare of the spotlight. We are the main character and the world watches us perform out our life. At the end, we take a bow and the story is over.
But few of us become the Director. This is an unseen role. Behind the scenes, burning the midnight oil, working overtime to see the meta-perspective of not just the players, or the audience, but the timeless story of life. At the end of the story, the director simply picks up a new one and starts creating.
If you want to become a Director in life, you have to think like one. There’s nothing wrong with any of the roles, and each have their purpose. But the director is the role that creates. And if you don’t like the story - you can only criticize as a Viewer, or sabotage it as a Actor- or you can Create as a Director, as you harvest more and more agency in your narrative.
The Stars Above reflect the Change Within
The cool thing about this process is that quite literally, Jupiter was in the sign of Gemini from summer 2024 - summer 2025 and in my chart, that’s the 9th house that covers religion and worldview. Consider it as spiritual weather - and if the weather is right, 2024 was a ripe year for me to expand the boundaries of my religion (which is what the character Jupiter does).
And in fact, by taking up astrology, this is exactly what I did. I received inspiration from the language of the stars to tell myself a better story in life and like all things in nature, there is timeline and patterns that mirror the soul within. So, it feels good, too.
I could go on about this lovely framework, and in fact, I might. Because as things become more trendy, they require the steady hand of wisdom (aged experience) to guide us through popularity contests and sugary facades. The stars above and the stars within speak to one another, and if you’re ears open enough, you might hear the music of your soul.
